The Top 5 Social Media Mistakes You’re Making

Social Media

and how this could be affecting your lead-generating content, authenticity, and followers on your Instagram page!

1. Overused Captions! Do your captions to every post end with the famous “link in bio to book” or “DM to book” lines? Take a look at your last five posts: If they all include some rendition of this phrase, it may be time to switch things up. Captions like this are redundant to your followers, and repeatedly asking them to book can be pushy. If your bio includes all of your information, then they know where to find you! Try creating posts and captions that offer value such as sharing skincare tips or personal stories. Check out our content pillars for more details LINKED HERE

2. Lack of Engagement: When your post sparks a reaction from your audience, don’t waste that energy! Respond to as many of their comments and questions as you can. In fact, the rule of thumb is to reserve 20 minutes after posting for engagement SET A TIMER RIGHT AFTER YOU POST! Your followers will be able to tell if you’re just posting for a booking. People are much more likely to book a service with someone they trust and connect with. Plus, Instagram rewards you for this engagement, they’re taking note of this too.

3. Lack of Consistency: Don’t allow your clients and followers to forget about you by posting every once in a while. If you haven’t posted in ages, you’ll lose both followers and the connection you’ve built. Batch content by picking 1-2 days a month to shoot photos and videos. Use a scheduling service to automatically post throughout the month.  As a Marketing For Medical member, we have a handful of up-to-date feed posts, story templates, reel ideas, and caption suggestions to choose from on our members-only page www.marketingformedical.com/members

4. No Videos? Images are still valuable, but videos give a look at the person behind the feed. Think about how many posts describe a service vs how many show the service in action via a video. Don’t have time to make a whole video!?

  • Select a few images
  • Pick a trending song
  • Put text over the images to create a fun, easy video.
  • Details live in the caption, make sure to utilize this!

Pro tip! Try using different or edited images as the cover photo, so your feed isn’t full of text from a video. Make sure to follow us on Instagram for our quick and easy “Steal the Reel” ideas! Instagram linked here

5. No Story Strategy: Stories are quite possibly one of the best tools on social media today. They allow you to engage with your audience in a more casual, relaxed, manner IF you use them correctly. Are you mixing up some PRP or waiting for numbing to set in? Take a quick video or photo of this for your story and tell your audience what you’re about to do! This not only shows them you’re busy, but they may want to try this for themselves. Face the camera, record a video, and share your day with your followers!

Tip! try “Skincare Saturday’s” or “Facial Friday’s as a way for users to look forward to something each week. Pro tip: batch content ahead of time, save it in a folder, and schedule. Remember, stories like these don’t just spark engagement, but they also get people invested in you. STORIES GET MORE ENGAGEMENT!

Story tips that help you get more engagement:

  • Put a poll up: this can be anything from getting to know your audience (ex: What’s your age? What’s your favorite treatment?)
  • Utilize the Question box! This isn’t only for questions, but can be used to “enter emails”, or “sign up for our next event”. If you are using it for questions, make sure you directly message them back, share, and answer common questions. And yep, you just added more stories to your feed in an easy way!
  • Reposts: If you are talking about a specific procedure on your story, share previous result photos!
  • Quiz! This is fun, but does take a little more work. Post a B&A and ask what treatment you just performed or “which skincare product is best for my oily skin”.
  • USE HASHTAGS AND LOCATION in your stories! The location tag allows you to be visible on the explore page and may get you more exposure.
  • Pro tip: You can hide the hashtags and location behind your photos so this won’t be visible on your story.
