Congrats! You’ve just made a great decision to go live.. or at least think about it!
Where should I go Live?
It’s simple, choose the platform that you have a greater presence on. This includes weekly posting and updating, highest rate engagement with your followers, and followers. Keep in mind, if you are trying to transition to using another platform more, this is also a great way to bring people to that other page.
When should I go Live?
Consistency is key! Pick a weekday, pick a time and stay with it! For the first few weeks, you may not see everyone joining in. However, be patient! You want to gain your audience’s trust and attention. By setting the same time and day, people will begin to notice.
How do I plan this?
Promote, promote and promote some more!
- Create a monthly calendar ahead of time with topics, special guests, and more. You can find the Facebook Live Planner template on our member’s site.
- Create events on Facebook, and have your team share the event.
- Use your stories! Use your highlight bubbles on Instagram or Facebook to talk about it the week leading up to your talk. Utilize the countdown function on Instagram to set a reminder for people to join at the time of the live event.
- Personally invite your followers: It’s amazing what taking a simple selfie video can do. Invite all of your followers to join you on the date of the event by posting a personal invite from the host.
- In-office fliers: Post a monthly calendar that includes the date, times, and topics of discussion at the front desk. We have two templates available for you to do this on our member’s platform “Going Live Planner” and “Going Live Invite”. You can either have your front desk hand these out or invite patients to take a photo before they leave.
What tools do I need to start, and to look professional?
- A title: To make this official, a title is needed for your segments. Make this fun, align it with what you will be talking about each week, and make it personalized to your personality! Don’t be afraid to bring some quirkiness to the title, it shows you’re human. ex: Talk with Doc, Truths Talk with Dr. Tod, Lunch Talk with Dr. Dahmer.
- A setting with natural lighting, a clean background, and have fun with it! Are you a chiropractor? sit in front of a spine diagram. Esthetician or Dermatologist? Have your skincare or your top-selling machine in the background. Pro tip: Make sure when you do your practice run and are using natural light that you practice at the same time you will be live.
- What to wear? Your scrubs or white coat are always a great idea, as it portrays you as a medical professional to the audience (pro tip: make sure it has your logo on it). However, don’t be afraid to have fun with this! Is your favorite sports team playing soon? Or maybe you support a local non-profit. Having fun with how you look to your audience brings a human and trusting approach to your audience.
- What to buy before you go Live: If you have practiced with your natural lighting and feel confident, a ring light may be necessary. However, purchase a phone tripod stand. Our favorite tripods are linked on our Amazon store here: Tripod Linked Here or Option #2
The last piece of advice is to practice and stay confident! You got this.
